Cooperatives are an essential economic factor
Swiss cooperatives, with a 16 percent share of gross domestic product, are an important economic factor. Each inhabitant is in contact with a cooperative, whether by shopping at Migros, buying insurance from the Mobiliar, saving money at the Raiffeisen bank or driving a Mobility vehicle. Worldwide, cooperatives also make up an important part of the economy: they have about 800 million members and generate 100 million jobs.
Today in particular, cooperatives have a future given the many challenges ahead. They answer the needs of the day for trust and sustainability. People come together to pursue common economic goals. The emphasis is then put on self-responsibility and innovation, local needs and a sustainable attitude towards various stakeholders and finances. This is what companies such as Raiffeisen, Mobiliar, fenaco, ABZ and Mobility have represented for decades.
